Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School
Which day is the celebration assembly?
Assembly on Friday is either led by the Headteacher or a class. At this assembly we celebrate all the children’s achievements from the week.

When do you celebrate Mass?
Mass is celebrated throughout the school year. We usually go to Church at the beginning and end of term. In between Mass and Liturgies are celebrated in school, these dates are shared with parents in newsletters. See also ...

What time do you start school?

In Key Stages 1 and 2 the children are supervised on the playground from 8.40am. The bell goes at 8.50am and the class teacher leads the children into class. We do ask that you say good bye to your child on the playground, so that when the children come into school learning can start immediately.

What happens if it is wet?
The children come into the hall. They can hang up their bags and change their shoes but they must not go into the classroom as they are not supervised. The bell then goes and again the children are led to their classrooms by the teacher.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary SchoolWhat if my child is unwell at school?
If a child is taken ill at school, parents are contacted so that the child can be taken home. It is important for this reason that parents provide the school with current contact numbers for home, mobile and work as well as an emergency contact.

Can my child take books home?
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School is keen that children take books home. All children have a reading record book in which they, their parents and teachers record which books have been read and taken home. Comments may be made in the book or sheet by parent, teachers and children so that a continuing dialogue of reading development is maintained.
We have in school a supply of book bags which we sell to parents at a cost of £3.75.

When do the children have their photgraph taken?
The children's photgraph is taken in Foundation Stage and Year 6.  At these times you can purchase a portrait photgraph of your child and a class photograph if you wish.  Also during your child's time at Our Lady of Lourdes they will also be in a whole school photgraph.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary SchoolWhat do I do if I am concerned about something?
You should always feel able to discuss anything that is concerning you with a member of staff. Speak first to your child’s class teacher. This is the person primarily responsible for your child’s well-being. If the problem needs discussion at length, the teacher will probably suggest that you arrange an appointment when both of you can talk privately. If after talking to the class teacher you are still concerned, make an appointment to see the Headteacher.

What do I do if I cannot get to school by 3.10p.m?
Please let the teacher concerned know if you have arranged for someone else to collect your child. If there is an unavoidable delay in collecting your child, please let us know so that we can reassure children who find themselves still waiting when all the other children have gone.

If I have any other general enquiries where do I go?
Go to the office where Mrs Fletcher or Mrs Waite will be pleased to help with any queries between the hours of 8.40a.m. – 3.25p.m.
