English

Spellings

Each week we will learn a new spelling pattern. These are some of the alternative ways that graphemes (groups of letters) are pronounced in English. The children will practise these in school, but you may well want them to practise at home too.

The children also need to learn all the year one and two common exception words. In order to be assessed as reaching the expected standard in writing, they need to be using the majority of these correctly in their independent writing by the end of year two.
