Year 5 - Residential Visit to Kilvrough Manor

Day 1

We have arrived and the sun is shining. We began our 1st day making up our beds before we had a group meeting where we discussed our aims for the week. These are - trying new activities; having fun; challenge; improve confidence; being enthusiastic and being resilient.

We had fun taking part in lots of team building activities, where we had to learn to listen and talk to each other. Tree climbing was great fun!

In the evening we did some orienteering activities, one which was called ‘nose to the ground’ where we explored Kilvrough Manor and it’s beautiful scenic surroundings.

Day 2

Another brilliant day full of both weird and wonderful weather from bright warm sunshine to a hail storm. Crazy canoeing on the canal (with a few capsizing!) and playing stuck in the mud. Oh well, a bit of wet didn't put us off especially with some warm hot chocolate and cookies to look forward to!

Refuelled, we enjoyed an evening coastal walk, via castle ruins, where we saw the sun go down!

Day 3

Today we have been caving, a new experience for many of us! It has seen us crawling through narrow gaps (the letter box), slipping through tunnels filled with water (the toilet!) and shuffling through tight openings (the worm hole). We all faced new challenges, showed good leadership and worked well as a team!

After an exciting day, we came home to another delicious meal and a fun evening of den building!

Day 4

Another day, we have faced new challenges and overcome personal fears. Today we spent the afternoon rock climbing and absailing down the local sea cliffs. Everyone supported one an other and resilience was shown throughout! Scrambling across the rocky coastline was also enjoyable - of course we stopped for a much needed hot chocolate, reflecting on what was has been an incredible week!
